The Specialized Tactics and Resources Team

The Specialized Tactics and Resources Team is a multi-agency, multi-function, all-hazard team made up of medics, law enforcement officers, and firefighters from Lancaster County EMS, Lancaster Fire Department, Lancaster Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, Lancaster County Emergency Management Division, Lancaster Rescue and Indian Land Rescue.

This unit is called out for tactical situations such as hostage/barricade incidents, “high-risk” arrest and search warrant service, and other incidents where specialized equipment and training are necessary.  Members of the STAR Team receive special physical training, including rappelling, as well as training with specialized weapons and other equipment (ballistic shields, chemical agents, distraction devices, etc).  The members of the unit hold regular jobs within their respective department and are subject to being called out at any time.
