The Training Division at the Lancaster Police Department is responsible for pre-service training as well as in-service training for all full-time and Reserve Officers. Training such as Firearms, Emergency Vehicle Response, and Criminal Domestic Violence is just a fraction of the training areas that the Training Division is responsible for. In addition to training provided by the Training Division, officers are routinely scheduled to attend training classes at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. 

Hands on training is a must at the Lancaster Police Department and throughout the year officers are not only in a classroom setting but are put into everyday scenarios to better prepare them for situations encountered in the field. It is through Proper, Safe, and Effective training that officers at the Lancaster Police Department are able to serve the citizens of Lancaster in a more Professional, Safe, and Tactical manner.
